According to the 2010 census, Vietnamese people make up more that 50% of the Asian populations in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines and Saint Bernard parishes. As a way to celebrate Vietnamese heritage, New Orleans Arts and Heritage Center (NOAHC) will exhibit a history of Vietnamese ceremonial dress from the 17th century to the present. The exhibit will be on display February 1 -22, 2016 and will coincide with Tet (the New Year) which is on February 8, 2016. Our opening night celebration will begin with a prayer from Reverend Dominic Nghiem Van Nguyen of Mary Queen of Vietnam Church. Versailles Lion Dance Team will provide entertainment and food will be catered by Dong Phuong Bakery. Flyers will be distributed the throughout each of the parishes inviting everyone to come celebrate Vietnam’s religion, culture, and heritage with NOAHC.
