NOAHC is dedicated to exhibiting historic pieces of art produced by the artists whose diverse cultures comprise the City of New Orleans. Four of our galleries exhibit our permanent collection, with a fifth gallery rotating through traveling exhibits.
Our permanent collection is comprised of paintings, sculpture, and photographs produced by Creole, Cajun, French, Italian, Irish, and African American artists, with many of our pieces dating back to the 1800’s. We also have several pieces of art on loan such as the Mardi Gras Indian costume display and many religious artifacts from the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Our traveling exhibits in the past have featured a Vietnamese Calligraphy Exhibit produced by members of MQVN, a Treme Neighborhood Photograph Exhibit called “Then and Now” which featured photographs of the historic neighborhood in modern times next to photographs taken during the civil rights movement.
